Vessel Profiles

Physics-Based Pathfinding.

A route for a kayak is deadly for a superyacht. Our routing engine actively rejects paths that do not fit your vessel's physical dimensions.

⚓

Draught Filtering

The A* pathfinding algorithm strictly enforces vessel draught constraints. If a vessel has a draft of 2.5 meters, the engine will dynamically reject any H3 hexagon node where the GEBCO bathymetry reading is shallower than the safe threshold. This ensures personalized safety corridors for deep-keel yachts.

Beam & Clearance

Navigating through narrow straits, canals, or crowded marinas requires precision. The VesselProfile integrates beam (width) parameters to ensure that oversized vessels do not attempt impossible passages where coastal limits are too tight.

Dynamic Vessel Classes

The VesselClassifier builds custom routing meshes on the fly. Whether you are routing a shallow-draft motorboat hugging the coast or an offshore sailing yacht requiring deep water, the engine calculates an entirely different spatial graph tailored to your physics and legal operating range.

Vessel Class Operating Zone (NM = Nautical Mile, 1852m) Default Draft H3 Grid Resolution
Inshore / Micro-Navigation Up to 2 NM from coast < 1.0 m Res 10 - 12 ~9m - 65m edge length
Coastal Up to 6 NM from coast 1.5 m Res 9 ~174m edge length
Offshore / Deep Coastal 20 NM to 60 NM from coast 2.5 m Res 6 - 8 ~460m - 3.2km edge length
Trans-Oceanic Unlimited Range 12.0 m+ Res 4 - 5 ~8.5km - 22.6km edge length
